The Ignorance of the Left

By Michael P. Tremoglie

Proving once again how woefully ignorant highly educated liberals are, a Drexel University law professor bashes the Second Amendment in a Rolling Stone magazine piece. He calls for its repeal.

Professor David S. Cohen is a constitutional law professor at Drexel University's Kline School of Law. (The fact that he holds this position tells the public more about Drexel University's law school than the university probably would like us to know.) He also is on the board of something called the Women's Law Project. He taught at Penn ( a commentary on the quality of that law school). He is also on the board of the Abortion Care Network.

Of course, none of these experiences qualify him to talk about weaponry. So when he claims the AR-15 is a select fire assault rifle rather than the semi-automatic weapon it actually is - he uses a newspaper article as his source instead of an authoritative publication or an expert.

This is typical of liberals. I am reminded of how the ACLU and Amnesty International claimed the Timothy McVeigh was allowed while the FBI looked for Arabs instead of whites. This too was not true and I have written and spoke about it often since 2005.

Nonetheless, this does not prevent Cohen from making such specious statements like, "When the Second Amendment was adopted in 1791, there were no weapons remotely like the AR-15 assault rifle..." So what? It is also true that in 1791 none of today's modern firearms existed. Is he suggesting that we ban all firearms?

Cohen attempts to qualify this spurious argument in the next paragraph. He wrote, "...the Founders didn't have to weigh the risks of one man killing 49 and injuring 53 all by himself. Now we do, and the risk-benefit analysis of 1791 is flatly irrelevant to the risk-benefit analysis of today."

Prof. Cohen continues to reveal his ignorance. He still does not seem to grasp:

A- The AR-15 is not an automatic weapon.
B- The Orlando killer did not use an AR-15. He used a Sig Sauer MCX
C- Automatic weapons have been in popular use for more than a century but mass shootings
are a recent phenomenon.

How can one take Prof. Cohen seriously when he is so utterly ignorant of the facts? Moreover, why would any serious publication use an article by him?

The answers are obvious. The only people who take him seriously are ignorant bigots. The only publications that would use his writing is one such as Rolling Stone infamous for publishing the fake University of Virginia rape article.

The problem with liberals like Prof. Cohen is that they are myopic while being supercilious. They are egocentric while being holier-than-thou. They know little. They speak much. They say nothing.

I wrote back in 2002: "Liberals are the self-righteous, led by self-important, for the benefit of the self-serving"  Prof. Cohen proves my point.

Here are the links to the original article ( and to the Campus Reform article which made me aware of it. Kudos to the reporter.)

Romney and Trickle Down Stupidity

By Michael P. Tremoglie

The irony was not lost on me while listening to Mitt Romney talk about Donald Trump and “trickle down racism.” The incongruity of Romney using the langaguage of the Left to describe a person who received more votes than any other nominess in the party’s history is stunning.

After all, it was only six months ago that Democratic Senate Leader Harry Reid said Justice Antonin Scalia was a racist “worst than Donald Trump.”

(Scalia was routinely falsely vilified as a racist: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/may/3/a-slur-against-scalia/)

What does this say about Romney’s beliefs about those who voted for Trump?

I recalled how Noam Chomsky once called Ronald Reagan an “extreme racist.” He was not alone. Tavis Smiley said Reagan “tortured” blacks. Bryant Gumbel called Reagan a racist too while an NBC commentator.

Ann Coulter, accused by conservatives of racism, recounted the many times Republicans have been branded racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, fascists, and Nazis by the Left. She presciently wrote in her 2002 book Slander,  “Instead of actual debate about ideas and issues with real consequences, the country is trapped in a political discourse that increasingly resembles professional wrestling.”

She also wrote how VT Sen. Jim Jeffords said he left the Republican Party because he was opposed to slavery and McCarthyism. ( BTW Rhode Island Republican Lincoln Chaffee did something similar when he bolted from the Republican Party).

She also wrote in her book:

Democrats compared Ken Starr to Heinrich Himmler

Jesse Jackson said in 1994, “In South Africa the status quo was racism…In Germany it was called fascism. Now in Britain and the USA it is called conservatism”

Charles Rangel compared the “Contract with America” to Nazism

Alan Dershowitz, the brilliant legal scholar praised by conservatives, once said that Republican opposition to letting felons vote is an ethnic cleansing of voter rolls and many other examples.

I am unsure why Romney and others in the Republican Party have adopted the Left’s tactics of smearing a Republican as racist, fascist, sexist etc. Is there a political gain? I have heard Romney and Ryan are trying to clear the way for a Ryan presidential nomination in 2020.

Who knows?

One thing is for sure. Romney and others are alienating probably the largest electoral demographic - the white working class. If they do - and they are trying their damnedest - Republicans will return to being a minority party for a long time.
